Max Papart Limited Edition Original Etching (20/20)
Max Papart (France, 1911–1994) was a painter and printmaker from Marseilles, France, best known for his colourful Cubist depictions of circus performers, birds, figures, still life, and landscapes. Papart’s work encompasses a playful and cheerful tone through his sense of movement and light hearted subject matter. Before moving to Paris and exhibiting his work at the Salon des Indepedants in 1936, he studied at the School of Fine Arts in Marseilles. He later taught printmaking at the University of Paris VIII in Vincennes between the years 1969-1973. Papart's works are exhibited today in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, and the National Gallery in London, among others.
