POUL M. VOLTHER
FDB Møbler

FDB Møbler's J166 chair designed in 1952 by Poul M. Volther is a Danish design classic. In 1950, after having completed his training as a cabinetmaker, he took over the position as head of FDB Møbler’s design studio from the furniture architect Børge Mogensen. Poul M. Volther quickly demonstrated his unique talent for developing high-quality furniture intended for mass production. In keeping with the spirit of FDB Møbler, he was involved in designing some of the most iconic pieces of furniture of the time, which ended up furnishing many of the new and modern homes being built during the advancement of the welfare state in the decades following the Second World War. His simple and functionalist idiom was rooted in good craftsmanship. Flexible furniture designed for everyday living.

Made of solid oak, and available in many colours and upholstery options, the J166 chair combines a rounded spindled backrest with a wide, comfortable seat. A lightweight chair suitable for many living spaces.

FDB Møbler has been producing premium Danish furniture for over 75 years, created by some of the most respected Danish designers and architects. The values that FDB Møbler was founded upon continues to shape every piece of oak and beech.
